American Idol 8 Top 7 - Disco Week

The guys rocked Disco Week that it could be the very first All-male Top 5 in American Idol history.

Acoustic heartthrob Kris Allen performed a fresh version of “She Works Hard For the Money” by Donna Summer. Kara DioGuardi said, “You took a real risk with that arrangement, it paid off big time…so impressed with you…it sounded like it could go on your record.” Paula Abdul said, “There aren’t many men who are willing to shop in the woman’s department. You shopped and found a perfect fit” (referring to the song originally sung by a woman). Simon Cowell said, “That was a complete polar opposite to the first performance (Lil Rounds)…original well thought out. That was not karaoke.” Randy Jackson said, “You know who you are you come out every week, you are ready for the big time. Amazing.”

On the other hand, Adam Lambert sang “If I Can’t Have You” by Yvonne Elliman. Kara DioGuardi said, “Adam, you’re brilliant…most memorable performance…the emotion…the way you connected..it’s inspiring!” Paula Abdul said, “You chose to pick a disco song and not make it cliche…I feel your vulnerablity….you will be in the finals.” Simon Cowell said, “You did something we weren’t expecting, it was original, you’re going to remember it…your vocals were immaculate.”
